Liverpool reportedly look to target Omar Marmoush
Execs at Anfield view the Frankfurt winger as a replacement for Mohamed Salah down the road.

LIVERPOOL — Omar Marmoush, who has had one of his best seasons to date, is fielding transfer attention from Liverpool. According to English sources, Marmoush is being scouted by Newcastle, Spurs, and Liverpool. However, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are the frontrunners.
“Liverpool are preparing for life without Mohamed [Salah] sell and will target one of his Egyptian team-mates as a replacement, according to reports,” columnist Abdi Rashid writes. “There remains uncertainty over Salah's future at Anfield, with the winger having one year left on his contract and talks over an extension yet to take place. Strong interest from Saudi Arabia also remains after a £150m bid from Al-Ittihad was turned down on deadline day last summer.”
With Salah’s age (31) and contract (one year left), steadily signaling time is ticking, Liverpool is taking the initiative to find reinforcements in the transfer window. The main target is Salah’s national teammate, Omar Marmoush.
Marmoush has scored 15 goals and had six assists in 34 appearances for Frankfurt. With his string of good form, interest from other wealthy clubs, and long-term contract, it could take a lot of money to bring Marmoush from the Waldstadion to Anfield. Sources say Frankfurt expects an offer between $50 and $60 million.
Marmoush has always been an intriguing target for many European teams, but this season was when he showed what his potential truly looks like. Marmoush can play as both a 9 and a 10. He’s a dangerous attacking threat both off the dribble and receiving it from a teammate. His best quality is his shooting, as his ability to shoot accurately has paid off many times for Frankfurt.
Marmoush has won 29 caps for Egypt, most alongside Salah. He appeared in all of Egypt’s AFCON games but did not play alongside Salah due to Salah’s hamstring injury.
Liverpool could also make a move for PSV’s Johan Bakayoko, but the issue of overspending on such Bakayoko, worth around $60 to $70 million, could drive Liverpool away.
By choosing to splash the cash on Bakayoko, they face intense pressure from Tottenham and Newcastle, who admire the 25-year-old heavily.
